BBC Radio ones remit is to inform educate and entertain.

There are 3 different types of radio stations-

  • Community- serve geographic communities. 
  • National- Radio stations available nationally.
  • Commercial- commercial radio licenses awarded by Ofcom. Typically reach the largest audience.

  1. You've very briefly summarised Commercial, National and Local radio stations here. In a comment below, please explain why BBC Radio One is NOT a commercial station (try and include the PSB in your answer).

    1. It is not a commercial station as they earn their money off of PSB. They earn their money off of everyone's car licenses and so there are no advertisements. They follow their remit of striving to entertain the listeners by playing the latest music, educate them with maybe interviewing an artist and educating us on background information about them, as well as inform them with things going on in the world.

      Remember that the PSB is a set of rules, not a way for broadcasters to make money.
