How does Radio 1 livelong meet the PSB requirements? (5)
They do this by first having a diverse cast to reflect the diversity of Britain. For example, Sam smith is a homosexual male, therefore it shows diversity within Radio 1 as they are including different types of people. As well as that it informs the public by interviewing the artists and so they get an insight of the background of the artist. It is distinctive and a high quality programme by it having all different content which makes it more entertaining.

The producers of radio programmes are obligated to fulfil their remit to appeal to a mass target audience so the station is for everyone not just a neesh group, in order to make everyone feel included, as this shows the diversity of britain by showing all the different culture. As well as that, it informs the public by sometimes interviewing the artist, such as in BBC live lounge. They do this to inform us as viewers their lives behind the fame and so we can identify with them and warm to them as artists more. One way producers of radio programmes target different audiences, for example in BBC Live lounge is through having a diverse cast within the show. For example the main host of the show is black, while having a range of different culture within the acts. This is for the live lounge to appeal to a mass audience in order to receive greater views, due to everyone within britain being included and therefore identifying with the show due to it showing the diversity of britain. Another way the live lounge targets different audiences is through the different genres included within the show. For example, there is pop music and rock music. Although these two genres differ, there is variety within the show, and therefore although some acts appeal to a niche audience, the show as a whole is advertising these artists for a mass audience, so they can enjoy all the different types of music and discover new music.

ReplyDelete2. 5/5 - An excellent answer, well done.
3. 3/5 - You could discuss the different platforms available to listeners and that the content is informative.
4. 7/10 - A nice response, however you'd need more for a 10 marker. SP - Niche
Also remember the REMIT is the promise of the media platform, in this sense Radio 1. Their remit is = is to entertain and engage a broad range of young listeners with a distinctive mix of contemporary music and speech. Its target audience is 15-29 year olds and it should also provide some programming for younger teenagers.
5. 8/10 - Good! I'd also touch very briefly on another example such as BBC Radio 4 as this is a different target audience.
