Little Mix primary audience and why?

Little Mix’s primary audience is younger teens, this is because they are young girls and want younger teens to relate to their music, for example their music video black magic, is set in a high school with the stereotypical geeks and popular groups which younger teens in high school can relate to.

The Vamps primary audience and why?

The vamps primary audience is teens; this is because of their cute look which attracts teenage girls, as well as the high energy within the music video and their voice which makes a younger audience want to sing along. For example in their music video somebody to you, they act as teenagers and bring high energy to the video by it being on a beach and them playing football, volleyball and in the pool, this attracts teenagers as its things they choose to do with their friends and want to do with their friends.

Black Magic

Setting:  High school

Editing:  The genre is pop.
The video is a performance.
The video uses similar shots and transitions to show what their wearing as well as their figures.
The video uses quick shots and quick transitions to entice the viewers to keep watching it.

Mise-en-scene:  Popular people wearing lack of clothing which conforms to the stereotype popular people wear provocative clothing, the geeks wearing glasses which connotes a nerd and teachers pet, they also wear head to toe covered up outfits which connotes they don’t care about their appearance as no one would notice them.  The props such as the book connote a geek/nerd.

Narrative:  Performance

Represents women as:  stereotypical. They connote you can only be popular if your pretty and wear revealing outfits as well as a full face of makeup, like a ‘typical’ popular girl.

Represents men as:  They represent men as only if their handsome and popular they will get a girlfriend or any girls attention. As the they represented the geek wearing  a old man sweater and glasses, and girls laughing at him as he dropped his book,, which conforms to the stereotype of a geek.

Somebody To You

Setting: A beach

Editing:  The genre is Pop/Rock.
They use the same mid shots throughout the video to show off the boys ‘trendy’ outfits and the girls ‘skinny’ figures and their revealing outfits. Their transitions are fast in order to entice the audience to carry on watching. It’s a high energy performance.

Mise-en-scene:  The boys outfits and cute looks connote style and trend, they get the girls because of their flirty ways and looks, connotes only cute boys can get pretty girls.  The girls are wearing barely any clothing throughout the video, their wearing either bikinis or short outfits and are all of the same size, skinny,  which connotes only pretty revealing skinny girls can get boyfriends. There is no one of colour, lack of ethnicity. Which conforms to the stereotype black people are not associated in white peoples everyday life.

Narrative:  Conceptual Performance.

Represents women as:  props, there used to look at and flirt with, they take one look at them and are determined to ‘get’ the girl. It conforms to the stereotype, said before; girls have to be skinny and pretty in order to get the cute guy.

Represents men as:  magnets, as long as they are cute and trendy they can get the girl. As well as that, in the video they are seen playing football like a stereotypical boy, would be seen doing at the beach. The girls don’t take part in physical activity and the ones they do they are seen to be ‘bad’ at which shows male dominance as they are guiding them or laughing  with them.
