Coldplay Paradise Home learning

The conventions featured in this video, paradise, consist of a linear narrative, their is a story behind the video, in this case an elephant is on a journey through paradise in order to find his friends. As well as that the video also includes a contrasting setting, as the setting is in the elephants 'paradise' which links to the theme of the song. There is use of mise-en-scene, the elephant costume denotes a fancy dress costume but may connote a real life elephant in order for us to feel connected to the video. The props used such as the unicycle creates an abstract and fun vibe for the viewers and keeps us entertained. The shots and cuts are speedy and abstract with matches the piece, and creates that sense of realism.

Paradise is both a performance and conceptual, due to them acting throughout the video and them basing the idea of the video around the word 'paradise'. It is a pop music video due to the technical conventions such as, the bright lighting and the modern and fun shots, for example the close ups of the elephant,  and cuts, as well as the speed of the music.

The equilibrium is when the elephant is kept in captivity. A disruption to the equilibrium is he escapes. A recognition that the disorder has occurred is when the guards catch him and chase him. An attempt to repair the damage is when he goes on a search throughout paradise to finally find his family/friends. The return to the new equilibrium is when he eventually finds his family/friends, a happy ending.
