Magazine Ownership & NRS
The magazine industry is mostly owned by publishing companies, rather than the very large media conglomerates such as disney, amazon and Netflix that dominate film and tv media worldwide.
Most magazines are struggling in a competitive market so this media from, print, may be managed by owners who specialise in the print medium.
However, magazine publishing is globalised, like other media, with the most popular magazine brandish the hands of a few international companies.

Good stuff!
ReplyDeleteThe NRS are the National Readership Survey who collect all the data (readership figures such as age, gender, class etc). In a reflection comment, explain why you think the NRS is important for magazines?
Miss Crader
I think the NRS is important for magazines due to the figures they collect reflect on the target audience and so show how they should portray the magazine in order to appeal to the target audience. For example, due to the social class being A-B the price is £5.75 which is fairly expensive but no so expensive for people of an A-B class. Due to the data collected showing the majority of target audience being 40+ year old men, they would make the magazine appeal mostly to that audience as they are the ones mostly reading it.
