What is the function and type of regulation in the magazine industry? (IPSO) 

The independent Press Standards Organisation is the independent regulator for the newspaper and magazine industry in the uk.  They hold newspapers and magazines to account for their actions, protect individual rights, uphold high standards of journalism and help maintain freedom of expression for the press. 
IPSO make sure magazines and newspapers follow the editors code and investigate complaints about material that may breach the editors code. they provide advice for editors and journalists, operate a 24 hour service for an anti harassment line and work with charities and organisations to support and improve press standards. 
The website offers information such as what they do, consisting of how they are funded and how they are run. It also offers consultations such as an editors code of practise consultation.They explain their vision, mission and values of the company helping us to understand the role of IPSO, They also include a section of vacancies and how to apply to become a member of IPSO. It also talks about the people working for the company. 
The purpose of this regulation is to indicate that the content is produced to high standards required  by the editors code and that the publisher has made themselves accountable by submitting to the rulings of an independent regulator.
